Cheltenham Meetinghouse
The Foundation's Cheltenham Meetinghouse is located on the grounds of Jeanes Hospital, and is open for Quaker Meeting for Worship on First Days (Sundays) between 11 AM and Noon. Local Quakers, and anyone interested, are welcome to come and worship in silence in the manner of Friends (Quakers.)
Although the current building is less than 30 years old, its roots go back to the mid-1800's, evident in some of the benches in the main worship room, which were built to accommodate the bustles in the dresses of ladies of that era.
The Meetinghouse is in frequent daily use, but it is available for use by both secular and non-denominational religious groups for weddings, blessings, memorial services and community meetings.
The building can accommodate approximately 100 people and is handicap accessible on its first floor, which in addition to the main worship room, includes a small library, an open space for gathering, and a kitchen area which can be used for serving previously prepared food. There is also a lower level which has a large gathering room. Restroom facilities are located on both floors.
If your group is interested in using the Meetinghouse, download the Guidelines for Use of Cheltenham Meetinghouse and complete the form below. You will initially be contacted by return e-mail acknowledging receipt of your inquiry.
